done, but I'm still not satisfied. however after wiping the eyebrows off roughly 50 times and the whole thing twice, I am gonna just let it stay because it ain't getting much better with my current skillz.
I've never done anything like this, the last time I even worked with dry pastels was ten years ago in my art school. I don't paint, I definitely don't paint on 3D objects, my hands are constantly shaky because of excess caffeine, etc.
all things considering it looks okay; the eyebrows aren't 100% symmetrical and the eyebrow hairs just, uh, disappeared (at least from the photos). and the lower lashes look like shit because of my shaky hands and too big brush.
but yeah. :D

god I need that girl body. it's still about two weeks to go before I can even order it, and then it will probably take ages to get here unless I get lucky and they have just casted a batch of the bodies. :FF I am so tempted to take money out of my savings account and then put it back there when I get paid, but it would be stupid so I won't. lrn2bmoarpatientplz, dear self.

DONE. good to know that I get to do this again in about a month, lolol. sanding took just a bit over five hours, wanking with the sealant took about 30 minutes, sueding took... two hours because I ended up being distracted by lazytown again (the actual sueding took about 30 minutes), the wanking with the de/restringing took maybe 45 minutes in total. that is nearly seven hours of my life wasted, lmao. nine if we count the time I got distracted with lazytown. I don't mind though.

but yeah, the sueding made a world of difference, I thought I'd also have to wire him but there really is no need fo that. I sueded with actual suede because I think hot glue is too messy, idk which method is better in the end but I have no complaints about this.

WHAT THE FUCK.
order placed & paid on the 21th, shipped on the 21th, arrived in finland on the 23rd, will be stuck in shitty finnish customs for a few days, picked up by next friday if my schedule allows.
I will be stuck with a floating head for way longer than I thought, hahah. but what I meant to say that I have NEVER gotten anything shipped this fast from abroad. never. I have never gotten such good customer service online as I have from soom. I fucking love doll companies. my package from luts got to finland on the 23rd as well so I'll probably get to go pick them both up at the same time unless the customs decide to screw something up.

but yeah, just HOW do they ship everything so fast? I mean they aren't exactly huge companies. I am baffled. I ordered & paid damian on the 10th, they shipped him on the 17th and I picked him up on the 23rd. HOW.

I seriously do not know what I am going to do with that floating head once it gets here, I will probably just doodle the face-up on it a few times and then hide it until the body gets here because holy fuck I do not like that disembodied head at all. it's unnerving and somehow sad at the same time, seeing the head there makes me want to put his pieces back together and go all "AWW MUCH BETTER ISN'T IT". ffffff. it's got something to do with how dolls are creepy to some people because they look "dead" and thus "wrong" (they look human, but not alive = "wrong"), I think it's somehow built into humans. and I think a disembodied head is bordering on "dead" and "wrong" enough to consider it unnerving. ;F I just don't get it, I fucking love gore and shit, but I can't look at a disembodied doll head irl without getting weirded out. WHAT.

dorries, making you look hardcore (or ridiculous, depending on who you ask) since... well. since whenever, lolol. I got the mask to use at work with the fumes, but I have never actually used it at work. I guess it works for this too since the only other breath protection I have is the full-face gasmask, hahah.
this is taking so much longer than I thought. D: I'm keeping a break because huuma is on, but I've been sanding for over two hours now and I still have the upper body, hands and feet to sand with the most coarse sandpaper. I will probably still be sanding at about 3am, lolol.
bawww it's freezing here since I had to open the window a bit. not cool.
edit: finished after about five hours. I probably could have been a bit more precise (well, some people DO spend 12 hours sanding their dolls...) but whatever. the seams are gone and I didn't fuck up too bad, so I am pleased. I got a few scratches on his legs because I started my "lol I has no clue about what I am doing" sanding from his inner thighs (because they're the least noticeable part) and, indeed, had no clue about what I was doing. but nothing worse than that, which is good. :D
still needs moar sealant but I am gonna let the poor boy dry a bit first.
this looks so weird. I am fine with the body parts, but the head makes it weird. I am sure that if I took his eyes out it wouldn't be as weird, having that little bald disembodied head just staring at me there is a bit unnerving.
holy fuck my wrist hurts now :F I was about to make a witty comment about masturbation here but... well. yeah.

I started sewing as soon as I got home, sewing dorrie shit while watching lazytown is fucking amazing for turning your brain off for a while. I already finished his new pants, now I am modding the shirt. I was originally gonna make a new shirt altogether, but I only hated the sleeves on that one so I'm just gonna change them. because I am proper lazy like that. after that I'm gonna make a MAN CORSET and a waistcoat and the outfit's done. knowing how slow and lazy I am it will take forever though. :(
I'll probably sand and suede him over the weekend, I'd need to take him apart (again) for both so I'll just rather do them both at the same time. I don't want to keep him in pieces for over a week (the head and my pastels should get here on friday next week or on the monday after that), and I ain't taking him apart AGAIN after that so I'll just be lazy and blush him in one piece. ffff. it's not like anyone's gonna notice because nude dorries are still a noplz for me, I mainly just want the hands to look less plain.
...I am kind of scared about the sanding, but whatever. even if I end up minorly screwing something up he won't be hanging around nude anyway, so it's not like anyone's gonna see. XD I was scared about the re-stringing at first too but it wasn't hard at all, so whatever, I am sure it will be fine. and it's much more fun to do and figure out all of this by myself, anyway.
but yeah :D back to sewing (and lazytown ♥) now. I want the sleeves back on him before I go to sleep.
